Here we are in the fourth volume of Weekend Reads! It’s quickly become one of my favorite blog topics because there is so much out there to learn! “You are, what you read…” as the saying goes, and I am a firm believer that if you really want to know what someone is all about, ask them what they read.
This week- I am a Gardener. We bought our house last year in April and didn’t end up moving in till July. Sadly, this meant no garden for our first summer in our new home. I grew herbs in pots (which made me happy) but I really was looking forward to this summer finally having vegetable gardens. Its been cold and rainy, so I’ve been unable to plant my garden. I have Sweet Pea flowers, lots of Tomatos, Peppers, Basil and lots more.
For our patio this summer, I am looking forward to our flower window boxes, Terra cotta table centerpieces and my rose bushes. If you need me, I’ll be sitting here every evening…
Here are some of my favorite garden books that have helped me through my gardening journey and hopefully will help you too!
Garden Inspiration
Gardenalia: Creating the Stylish Garden by: Sally Coulthard
This book provides the perfect inspiration for anyone looking to transform their space. Beautiful pictures and lots of great ideas for your garden!
Rachel Lambert Mellon
Part of creating is understanding that there is always more to do; nothing is ever completely finished.
Gardening Icons
The Gardens of Bunny Mellon by: Linda Jane Holden
If you are unfamiliar with Bunny Mellon, I am glad you read this post today. A gardening genius who designed gardens at the white house and around the world. She is what I aspire to when I think about the design of my own (much lest grand) garden.
Garden Information
This is my go to resource for my vegetable garden. There are so many different types of books that can help you plan and start your garden. I found that this one is very helpful to help you know about the vegetables you’re growing and how to care for them best. Organized alphabetically its great in a pinch if you have a quick question.
