Looking back over the past 4 years, one of the things I miss most often as a college graduate is the start of a new school year. Something about the expectations of a new year and the fun of seeing friends again makes me melancholy every autumn and I miss the days where the only worry was if I was going to skip my 8AM to go grab coffee with a friend and if the all nighter I pulled to write a paper paid off.
As much as I am glad life at college is over, I did have a great time this past weekend at our Alma Mater Homecoming. My husband played in the Homecoming Alumni Lacrosse game which was a blast. It was fun to see him back on the field with friends and catch up with familiar faces. The rest of the weekend was spent at home where we had our first fire of the season, I enjoyed a large mug of hot apple cider, and started reading (for the 5 attempt) Where the Crawdads Sing…. I know I’m about 509 years behind, but not without considerable effort. So far… it had not captured my attention, which I know is a unpopular opinion.
In other news, I wore a pair of these leather leggings to the homecoming festivities and got lots of mixed opinions. Lots of love and lots of questions about what material they were and if they are stylish. Although a topic of a great deal of controversy, I love them and they are now the cornerstone of my fall wardrobe this year. the color is great, they’re warm, and they actually look like leather. I’m here for it. And besides, isn’t good style always controversial?
Also for this fall, I am all about monochromatic looks and fully embracing all the neutrals. Here are some of my favorite looks:
This weekend, I also started burning my favorite fall candle from D.W. Homes. This is by far my favorite fall candle… the only downside…they change the name every year and I have to hunt for that same familiar scent with a new name slapped on it. Frustrating, but oh so worth it.
This weekend we also made huge progress to our kitchen remodel. And I am thrilled to tell you its almost complete! So check back soon for a blog post!
As always, have a wonderful week and keep killing it!
