As a young girl, classic films were always a staple for our family movie nights. Whether it was westerns featuring Jon Wayne (my grandmother’s favorite) or musicals like White Christmas and State Fair I loved each one. They became a part of me in a special way like no recent movies ever had. Like new found friends, each classic movie I watched influenced my sense of self, fashion, and interests.

I haven’t shared much about my hair products in quite some time so here is an update about what I use everyday and my tips for getting the most out of your hair. I often try to change up my routine and try new products, but there are some items that remain a constant over the years.. These are some of my favorite products and most of them I’ve used for over three years and have loved the results I’ve gotten.

Spring shopping provides a new opportunity to reinvent your style. This month, I decided to put together some of my latest finds in one location for you to find just what your spring wardrobe needs. Like many of you, I decided to “kondo” my closet and get rid of a lot of the unnecessary and older items that were taking up space in my closet. As I’ve gotten older, my style of shopping has change and rather than filling my closet with lots of inexpensive clothes that last for only a season, I now shop with more intention. I buy clothing that last and focus on a more curated adult style. out.
How A Pair of 7 Dollar Sale Earrings Gave Me A Fresh Perspective
Happy Friday everyone, hope your holidays were as warm and cozy as my new Shea butter socks 🙂
My $7 Awakening
This whole article began several weeks ago whilst meandering the floors of my local mall. Do you ever come across a piece and see 15 different outfits? I decided to take a gander at Dillard’s ever growing mammoth of sale jewelry. (side note- I would argue Dillard’s has THE single best unique mid level jewelry than anywhere else.) While pillaging through the hoards of jewelry I came across the earrings I’d been looking for all my life. Disclaimer: I don’t wear a lot of patterns- though I wish I did. But I do love to create interest in other ways in my style choices. I love a good romantic floral pattern and these statement, Dog wood flower, gold earrings were exactly what I needed to subtly create a dramatic look.
To me they were the perfect combination of statement, eclectic, vintage style I had been looking to find for a long time! They reminded me of jewelry I had read about in a book somewhere? or seen in an old movie…

Spring Trend I am Loving: Gingham
Hello and Happy Friday! I hope you all have wonderful weekend plans. This weekend Will and I will be heading to Columbus, OH to watch my Alma Mater (high school) compete to win Basketball State Champions! It’s a big accomplishment for the team and my mom is principle! GO MOM!! BUT in other news, I thought I would share with you all some of my favorite styles this spring.
Gingham is in! I could not be more tickled by all the cute styles out there sporting gingham this spring. Gingham might be the happiest pattern to me. It screams innocence, charm, and warmth and makes the perfect addition to any spring outfit.

Lake Erie Bluffs: How We Love to Spend Our Saturdays
This weekend was uncharacteristically warm for January which was a wonderful change from the freezing weather we’ve been having. For the first time in what feels like months Will and I have a weekend at home together and we decided to head to the local park to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. We’ve been looking for houses and to be honest its been an interesting experience. It was great to take a break from house hunting and working to get outside and spend time together. If you are looking for a good day time date that doesn’t involve food or shopping, go for a walk.
Styles from this post
For this post I wore Melrose & Market Top I found at Nordstrom Rack and it’s been one of my favorites this season. It’s so comfy! The jeans I wore are vintage Levi’s, but Levi is bringing a lot of their old styles back (similar ones linked below). My boots are Sam Edelman that I’ve had for several years and are still one of my favorite boots.

Reflections
It’s a calm but cold Wednesday morning here in Ohio and I am currently sitting at my desk with a large mug of tea and a slumbering dog. Today, I’m multi-tasking both writing, reflecting and designing for clients. Usually at this point in the day I’ve already been to the gym and am still in workout clothes or a oversized sweatshirt. But today I’m so tired of the cold that I’m forcing myself into a t’shirt. I’m looking forward to 2018, hopefully buying a house, I’m going to be an aunt come May and a fair bit of traveling adventures. Before I get carried away I wanted to take some time to reflect.
Recently on a car ride home, my husband and I thought about ways in which we want to challenge ourselves more in the coming year. We both are youngest in our families and decisions have never been easy to make from things as trivial as where to eat dinner on a Saturday night to important things like where to buy a house. 2017 definitely pushed us to make some difficult decisions and for 2018 we both picked the word “Bold” as our challenge for the year.
I have the tendency to stay within the lines and never try to push myself beyond what I think I’m capable of. I let decisions often come to me instead of carving my own path. Like most people, I’m afraid of failure or disappointing people who I care about. Boldness is definitely a steep challenge for me this year, but its beginning with small steps like wearing short sleeves in the winter, making more challenging recipes for dinner, and not being afraid to put myself out there even when I am afraid to look stupid or fail. Yay for 2018! What are some of your goals for 2018?
