Music playlists are crucial to the enjoyment of ANY trip and are part of what makes trips so fun. Recently, I’ve gotten back into the habit of finding playlists and discovering new artists on Spotify, 8tracks, or Youtube… a habit I picked up in college. Seriously, music is part of what got me through four years of finals week… I love it and to this day, I wish my job was coming up with soundtracks to movies…(well that and doing animated voices for disney characters) In fact, my husband and I first really connected over sharing music and now from time to time, we’ll pull up tunes from our middle school days and share our memories about the songs. Its fun and helps us reminisce about the past.
Needless to say, music connects and helps trigger memories. I think every year of my life is attributed to a song. My younger days to Don’t Rock the Juke Box by Alan Jackson and Runaway by Cox Family, amazed at the high notes Alison Krauss could reach in the chorus. And later, middle school defined by Jack’s Mannequin’s, Dark Blue‘s teenage angst coupled with Hey there Delilah by Plain White T’s continuously being played over the radio. The number of songs that defined the years to follow would fill up pages and pages, but each one’s lyrics are engrained in my head, popping up occasionally, reminding me of days gone by. Each phase of life has has been defined by the music I listen to at the time. So, whether a dull trip to the grocery store, or a fun road trip with friends I can never go without music.
Here’s some of my favorite songs on Spotify for a journey all ready to go for your next trip! Including some of my favorites like John Denver and Tim McGraw… Hopefully, this will help make being stuck in a car more bearable and instill a sense of adventure in your fellow travelers so you can create more memories along the way!
